Concise Handbook
The following information comes from the website fisterra.com
The bibliographic citations in the text follow the format (Author, date)
Citations in the text are indicated with Arabic numerals in parenthesis: (1) (2)...
Each citation in the text has a number assigned by order of citation, so if a work is cited more than once, it will follow with the same number assigned by citation order.
Some journals indicate that the citations in the text use superscript Arabic numerals, without parenthesis.
If there is more than one citation, they are separated by commas, but if they are consecutive, the first and the last are indicated separated by a dash: (1-3) (1,4,9).
Citation examples
Citation in the text:
• Muscles play an important motor function in the body (1)…
• As indicated by Arconte (2), geriatric care…
If the work has more than one author, the first author et al. is cited in the text:
• Lauren et al. (5) say that…
If the author is an organization or an entity, you must check whether it can be referred to with an acronym or its full name:
• The Ministry of Health (4) is responsible for...
• According to the WHO (19), the flu is considered...
If you are going to be including a literal citation (direct quote), place it in quotation marks, with the citation number at the end, after the quotation marks and before the punctuation mark, including pagination:
• “…a CRAI is a resource center for learning and research.” (4, pg. 23).
Bibliographic reference
The bibliography begins on a new page immediately after the text, following the pagination of the document and justifying the text with a French indentation following the first line.
The bibliography begins on a new page immediately after the text, following the pagination of the document and ordered according to the citation order in the text.
You must always verify that a different number has not been assigned to the same citation, as it could duplicate the reference.
